Perched on the outskirts of Mesaria village in Santorini, Kapsimalis Architects have transformed a historic subterranean wine cellar, or ‘canava’, into a contemporary summer home. With views of the Aegean Sea and surrounding vineyards, the project preserves the building’s original vaulted spaces, winepress, and cisterns, blending tradition with modern functionality. The main vaulted area now hosts an open-plan living room and bedroom, while the adjacent space retains its kitchen function.
